The Working with Filmmakers Legal Clinic at Chapman University School of Law provides production legal services for selected low budget independent filmmakers. Services provided by the law students include: forming a company, agreements for underlying rights, filing for copyright, and drafting the contracts associated with the production (director, producer, crew, actors, location, releases, etc.). The law students are supervised by experienced entertainment attorneys and all legal services are free of charge.

A film that has used the services offered by Working with Filmmakers, Mamitas, will be screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June. The feature film is based upon the student short film created by the writer/director and producer when they were students at Chapman's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Filmmakers who have used the services offered by the Working with Filmmakers Legal Clinic have won numerous awards and honors, including: Newport Beach Film Festival Audience Award for Best U.S. Film; Netflix Find Your Voice Film Competition winner; Denver International Film Festival People's Choice Award; LA Film Festival premier film; Tribeca Film Festival Official Selection; AFI Film Festival Official Breakthrough Selection; Urbanworld Film Festival Narrative Audience Award; Chicago International Film Festival Official Selection, and a premier at the LA Film Festival.
